Endodontic treatment is necessary when the pulp, the soft tissue inside the root canals, becomes inflamed or infected. There can be several causes of infection or inflammation such as deep decay, dental trauma, wear or abrasion. If inflammation or infection of the pulp is not treated, it can cause pain, prolonged sensitivity to cold or heat, color changes, discomfort when chewing and swelling and discomfort in the gum around the tooth.
The endodontist removes the inflamed or infected pulp, cleans and prepares the inside of the tooth and then fills and seals the remaining space.
In our center, thanks to CBCT, which allows us to make a better diagnosis, and the use of a dental microscope, we can perform endodontic treatments with greater precision and a better prognosis.
Apical surgery is performed in cases where the tooth has an apical lesion that cannot be treated by endodontics.
The surgery consists of the surgical removal of the oral lesion that is located at the end of the tooth root.
